Elevate Participates in International Coastal Cleanup Day 2017 to Help Save California’s Beaches

Elevate Addiction Services truly believe that volunteer work during addiction recovery offers therapeutic benefits, and helps to give purpose and positivity in a time when individuals yearn for these feelings.

One of the many ways Elevate and our guests help the community near our Northern California treatment center is by participating in the “Adopt-A-Beach®” program in conjunction with the California Coastal Commission. 2-3 times per year, we gather a crew of volunteers from our recovery program to beautify and remove trash from our section of the beach along the Pacific Ocean.

This year, our volunteers performed cleanup along with millions of other volunteers around the world for the 2017 International Coastal Cleanup Day. On September 16th 2017, we joined volunteers from around the globe to help in the removal of the 10 most common items found littering the beaches:

    • Cigarette Butts
    • Plastic Beverage Bottles
    • Plastic Bottle Caps
    • Food Wrappers
    • Plastic Grocery Bags
  • Plastic Lids
  • Straws & Stirrers
  • Glass Beverage Bottles
  • Other Plastic Bags
  • Foam Take-Away Containers

All of our volunteers’ hard work paid off; the beach was once again returned to its natural beauty, and we all learned our own personal lessons from the day. While we look forward to our next day of volunteer work, our next beach cleanup, and next year’s Coastal Cleanup Day 2018, we have plenty of pictures and video of the fun we had in the sun this year.
