Palo Alto Drug and Alcohol Addiction Rehab

Palo Alto, a city named after the coastal redwood tree, is located in Santa Clara County. The Times listed Palo Alto as one of the most expensive places to live in the country. Palo Alto is also reported as one of the top cities with the highest rate of education. More than 40 percent of Palo Alto residents have earned their Master’s or Doctorate degrees.
Being an affluent area, however, does not make the city immune to drug and alcohol abuse issues. The extreme wealth in the region has also caused some drastic economic differences between social classes.
A local news source, Palo Alto Online, reports that a new homeless census shows a spike in the population living in vehicles. Alcohol and drug abuse is among the top reasons why individuals experience homelessness. Additionally, experiencing homelessness is also a stressor that may lead to alcohol or drug abuse, which can worsen it in those who already struggle with addiction.
Palo Alto saw a 13 percent rise in homelessness since 2017. About 22 percent of people listed drug and alcohol abuse as the top reason for their homelessness, second only to job loss.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs in Palo Alto, California
Whether individuals are struggling with alcohol, marijuana, or prescription drug abuse, they will find an array of treatment options available in the Palo Alto area. However, it is important that addiction treatment planning starts with a detailed assessment of the individuals’ needs. This can be an essential step to ensuring a successful recovery.
Drug and alcohol rehab centers will usually offer treatment programs such as inpatient, outpatient, and detoxification. Each treatment center will approach addiction differently, and it’s crucial to find one that appeals to you or your loved one, as this can influence the success rate of recovery.
Detox
The initial detox stage is very important. If individuals are not entirely off of all substances when they begin treatment, they may not be in the right state of mind to tackle the challenges that follow during treatment.
Inpatient Treatment
Inpatient treatment programs are a treatment type where individuals are required to live at the rehab center while completing treatment. This type of therapy can be particularly helpful if someone has been through a recovery program before, is addicted to more than one substance, or has a co-occurring mental health disorder.
Outpatient Treatment
Outpatient treatment options will vary from treatment center to treatment center but usually are held in the form of late weeknight meetings. This scheduling allows individuals to continue living at home and to stay employed if needed.
