Alcohol and Drug Rehab in Mountain View, California

Mountain View Drug Rehab

A city named for its view of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Mountain View, is located in Santa Clara County. As part of Silicon Valley, Mountain View is not only home to some of the prettiest hiking trails, but also to tech giants such as Google.

Although this area is home to many successful tech companies and startups, the residents may still struggle with substance abuse issues. Addiction doesn’t discriminate and can affect anyone, no matter their social class.

While the rate of opioid abuse in Santa Clara is low compared to the rest of the state, there has been an increase in the number of fentanyl-related deaths in the county since 2017.

A recent county-wide study found that 44 percent of high school seniors and 28 percent of juniors reported drinking alcohol at least once in the last 30 days.

Almost a third of the seniors surveyed also reported getting drunk in the last two weeks, and one-in-four reported drinking and driving in the previous year. Another local survey found that the following are the most abused substances in Mountain View and Santa Clara County:

  • alcohol

Prescription Drug Abuse in Mountain View & Santa Clara County

The two main ways someone can abuse prescription drugs include:

When surveyed, it was found that 22 percent of Santa Clara County residents used a prescription in an unsanctioned manner at least once, 20 percent had taken a prescription that was not meant for them, and 8 percent reported abusing over the counter (OTC) medications.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Types in Mountain View, California

Mountain View residents will find no shortage of drug and alcohol treatment programs in the area. There are so many ways to address addiction issues including but not limited to:

  • 12-step programs
  • partial hospitalization programs
  • various types of individual and group therapies
  • non-12-step treatment programs.

The most important thing to consider when deciding what type of addiction treatment is right for you or a loved one is what your unique needs are. Depending on the situation, some treatment types may work more effectively than others. Addiction is not a one-size-fits-all disease, and neither is its treatment. Each person will react in their own way to drug and alcohol treatment.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Levels of Care

Generally, rehab centers offer several levels of care. These levels can range from short-term in-house care or short-term out-of-house care to long-term stays. In-house care, also known as inpatient rehab, requires individuals to live at the rehab center while attending treatment. In contrast, out-of-house care or outpatient treatment is done outside the rehab center.

Both inpatient and outpatient treatment are equally effective in treating substance abuse issues. Depending on the situation, one type of treatment may work better but often these treatments are used in conjunction with each other.
