Alcohol and Drug Rehab in Pacific Grove, California

Pacific Grove shares borders with Monterey Bay, the Pacific Ocean, and the Del Monte Forest. With easy access to nature, there are endless adventures available to Pacific Grove residents.
Pacific Grove is well known as a temperance town after the ratification of the 21st amendment. It wasn’t until 1968 that locals could even buy beer in their resident grocery stores. There were also no pubs in town until 2018.
Additional rules surrounding substance use in the Pacific Grove area include new ordinances that will target smoking and vaping in town. As early as October 2020, Pacific Grove plans to ban smoking and vaping in all multi-unit housing. It will also be the first to ban the sale of all e-cigarette devices and any flavored tobacco products.

Drug and Alcohol Treatment Types in Pacific Grove, California
Pacific Grove is a smaller community known for its small-town hospitality and friendliness. Although it is smaller, individuals should have access to at least one rehab facility in the area. With limited options for treatment, it may be a good idea to consider traveling for treatment.
Different drug and alcohol treatment types typically include:
- behavioral counseling
- medications
- evaluation and treatment for co-occurring disorders
- long-term aftercare planning
Treatment options that do not include a mix of all four of these elements are less likely to be effective long-term treatment. Behavioral counseling is an essential part of treatment as it helps individuals figure out the root of their addiction. Counseling is offered in many different forms, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Detoxification
Medications may be a part of the recovery process to detox individuals from their current substance of abuse. However, individuals should be careful of treatment types that try to replace one medication with another.
The ultimate goal of treatment should be to stop taking all medications safely.
Co-Occurring Disorders
Evaluating for co-occurring disorders is another crucial step in recovery. Individuals who struggle with an undiagnosed mental health disorder will have a tough time during recovery because this underlying issue is not being addressed.
When someone considers getting help for all aspects of their health, including psychological and physical, they are more likely to succeed in their recovery efforts.
Aftercare
Aftercare planning is another element of addiction treatment that should not be taken lightly. Recovery from addiction is a life-long process.
It is vital that individuals feel confident in stepping back into their everyday lives and pressures before leaving addiction treatment. Transitional options, such as sober living, are available for those who need a slower step-down process after drug rehab.
